Chamber Music Competition
Eligibility
The chamber competition is open only to collegiate and university participants.
Each ensemble member must be 28 years of age or under on June 30, 2025.
Must be registered for the SBF Participant Class (or the Auditor Class for non-trumpet/horn students).
Rules and Procedures
The group must be between 3 and 6 members.
The 2025 SBF Chamber Music Competition will be divided into two rounds: a recorded preliminary round and a live final round. The final round will be conducted live at the festival.
Scores MUST be submitted with the competition application.
Preliminary round submissions are to be submitted with your competition application and must include audio and video.
All competition candidates must submit a 2025 SBF Participant application separate from the competition application. Non-trumpet/horn players MUST register for the auditor class.
Only ONE member of the ensemble must pay the competition entry fee ($50), but ALL members of the ensemble must register and pay for the festival (see above for non-trumpet/horn players).
Recordings must be unedited, but audio gain changes on the entire file are permitted.
All recordings must be submitted via a YouTube link. The video link must be “Unlisted” and comments should be disabled. This link should be submitted alongside your competition and festival applications (see below for dates/deadlines).
Pianists will NOT be provided for the chamber music competition.
All candidates will receive feedback from the judges.
All finalists will receive a professional video recording of their final round performance.
Repertoire
Ensembles may select a piece of their choosing, but the performance may not exceed 10 minutes in length.
Important Dates
Final recording submission deadline to be considered for the competition is May 15th, 2025
The SBF will begin notifying candidates who advance to the semi-final round beginning May 15th, 2025
